Live Performance Videos

Below are 4 links to the live video performance of Remembering Broadway.  The performance was done at the Library here in The Villages on 8/27/2024.   It has not been edited so please excuse the few bumps that may exist.   It is almost one hour in its entirety so that is why it has been split into 4 parts.   It is best viewed at full screen.

Please note that the videos below don’t have the best sound quality as they were just recorded by a friend with a non-professional video camera.     We like the one’s above.  Thanks.

Jay Alan - A Simple Story in 2 Acts

ACT II

Interlude

ACT I

If there is an ACT II, there must have been an ACT I.   My Act I was my business career which lasted 55 years until I was 77 years old.  It included years as a software engineer as well as being a women’s fashion retailer.    It was many busy years but like everything else had to come to an end.  It was time!  I have a wonderfull wife, no children and no siblings.

And then there was retirement.  I’ve played the piano since I was a little boy so I had that to keep me busy. I don’t play golf, pickleball, or games and other than music, had very little interests.

I worked 55 years in a career requiring complete brain focus and I achieved financial security.  Then it stopped. The question I believe comes up for many retirees is “is that all there was?”.    Giving back financially to charitable organizations is one thing, but that does not totally fill the hole in one’s soul.

Time for ACT II.

As one becomes an octogenarian.  time becomes relevant and moves ultra-quickly.  My second act, is one of giving back by sharing what musical ability I have on the piano with others.  I do this for charitable contributions only to local and national organizations.

I have also found that being able to trigger peaceful and happy memories for those in age related facilities or hospitals by playing music of their time is a gift that must be shared.
